Payam Moazzaz, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive spine procedures and robotic spine surgery. Dr. Moazzaz was among the first in the U.S. to perform robotic spine surgery with a first-generation platform that received FDA approval in 2011.
He was also one of the first surgeons using a second-generation robotic spine surgery platform called Mazor X that was introduced nationally in 2016 and is offered at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.
A native of Shiraz, Iran, Dr. Moazzaz, is credited with several awards, patents and inventions related to spine care and participates in clinical studies related to adult spinal deformity correction and surgical outcomes of robotic procedures.
