Dr. Pablo Moreno Llorente, PhD, MD, FEBS

Moreno Llorente is a leading specialist in Endocrine Surgery and expert in thyroid cancer, pathologies of the thyroid nodule, hyperthyroidism, hyperparathyroidism and adrenal glands. He currently holds the position of director of the Endocrine Surgery Institute at Clínica Corachan and has served as the Head of the Endocrine Surgery Unit at Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge since 2007. Moreno Llorente has worked on more than 3500 specific procedures in endocrine surgery involving the thyroid, parathyroid, and andrenals. He has also worked on more than 1000 thyroid cancer surgeries. Prior to becoming the Head of the Endocrine Surgery Unit, Moreno Llorente worked as a General Surgeon at the same hospital since 2000.
Moreno Llorente is also an innovator and researcher. He pioneered the application of Minimally Invasive Surgery techniques and the management of thyroid surgery in Spain. In 2016, Moreno Llorente participated in the first transaxillary thyroidectomy in Spain and, in 2017, he worked on the first transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy through vestibular approach (TOETVA) in Spain. In addition to this, he has conducted studies on trying to correlate indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence with intraoperative parathormone and how to improve intraoperatively parathyroid gland function.
Moreno Llorente has been published in numerous publications including international journals, and participated in many lectures during his career. He has also received awards including the 1st National Prize in Surgery from the Spanish Association of Surgeons (AEC) in 2017 and the Best Scientific Publication by the Research Committee of Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge.
